Donations and Bequests
Items intended for donation or bequest to the Museums Service, Brighton & Hove City Council may be accepted if they comply with the Council’s Acquisition and Disposal Policy: 2009.
The key objective of the policy is to acquire items that strengthen the existing collections. Decisions on acquisition are made by the Museums Service, and are final.
Ownership of the collection resides with Brighton & Hove City Council to be held in trust for the people of Brighton and Hove.
Individuals intending to donate items are kindly requested to fill out the form for Enquiries or Proposed Donations. You can download this form below, or pick up a paper copy at the museum entrance desk.
The World Art section staff are working on the redevelopment of the James Green Gallery of World Art at Brighton Museum & Art Gallery. An exciting new gallery presenting 'Stories of the World' will open in spring 2012. During this time we are unable to consider public donations to the World Art collection. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. The World Art collection is a Designated collection of objects from Africa, Asia, the Pacific and Americas.
