Art Nouveau jewellery
In 1986 Brighton & Hove Museums purchased a collection of Art Nouveau jewellery from Charles and Barbara Robertson.
The jewellery includes a number of fascinating individual pieces from several countries such as a silver pendant showing a female head wearing a peacock shaped helmet. It was made in the United States of America around 1900.
Another silver piece is a metal pin surmounted by twin wings decorated with plique-à-jour enamel in grey and lilac. They surround a central purple cabochon. The pin was designed by Heinrich Levinger in Germany around 1910.
The collection also holds a paté-de-verre (glass paste) pendant moulded in the form of a fly. It was designed by Walter V Almeric and Henri Bergé in France around 1920.
