Action Man doll, TYTMP000452
Action Man dolls were first produced by Palitoy in Great Britain in 1966. They had previously been launched by Hasbro in the United States as GI Joe in 1964. The doll had movable hard vinyl limbs and was the first action figure of this kind.
The figures were produced in three different uniforms, army, naval and air force, and each doll came with its own set of Action Man dog tags.
In 1968 he was given gripping hands which were made of rubber and could hold onto weapons. In 1970 he was given fuzzy acrylic hair and in 1976 the Eagle Eyes action man was produced which had a small lever in the back of its head with which to move the eyes from side to side.
In the early 1980s Action Man production stopped. He was reproduced in 1994 with a bulkier figure and many new outfits.
