You can view a wealth of archival film footage of Brighton. The History Centre hosts Brighton & Hove In Film, a touch screen audio visual unit supplied by the Screen Archive South East.

This material includes:

  • A film of King George V's 1915 visit to the wounded Indian soldiers convalescing in the Royal Pavilion
  • 1896 footage of Brighton beach, in which the chain pier can still be seen
  • Local VE day celebrations
  • Our New Errand Boy, James Williamson's 1904 short comedy filmed in Hove
