Brighton History Centre has a wide collection of maps and plans. These range from a copy of the earliest map of Brighton in 1545 to current Ordnance Survey plans of Brighton & Hove.

Our maps are of different scales and dates and cover rural and urban areas, including:

  • Historic street plans of Brighton
  • Six Inch Series of Ordnance Survey maps of Sussex
  • Geological Survey and Soil Survey of England and Wales (Sussex area)
  • Admiralty and yachting charts
  • Goad Shopping Maps and Surveys of Brighton, 1960s to the present.
  • Fire insurance maps of Brighton buildings, 1890s to 1950s
