Open 6 days a week, Hove Library has recently celebrated its 100 birthday. It is now fully accessible including a lift to the upper floor, self service, an audio-visual section and free computer use.

The new Coldean Library opened in June 2008 with more space, improved visitor facilities, self-service, welcoming children’s area, new young people’s area and a great selection of films on DVD for hire.

Cosy Hollingbury Library has fiction and information books, large print, books on tape, children’s books, and essential skills collections. Computers are free to use and there are regular Baby Rock & Rhyme sessions and coffee mornings.

Easy to get to, Moulsecoomb Library, recently refurbished offers a large selection of fiction, non-fiction and children’s books, as well as DVDs and CDs, a special collection for young people and a Homework Club, plus free computer use for the public.

Patcham Library is one of our largest community libraries a range of stock including CDs and DVDs. There are computers to use, a monthly Book group, a Homework Club, and regular Baby Boogie sessions. There is also a fully equipped IT room for hire.

Portslade Library features new micro-museum displays. Portslade Children’s Centre in the library runs support sessions, family advice and activities for families. Other activities include Baby Boogie sessions, Silver Surfer sessions and a Book group.

Located in an historic listed building shared with the Grange Art Gallery, Rottingdean Library offers the range of main library services. There is a tea garden in the summer months and a mini Booklover Store selling a range of unusual cards and gifts.

Sharing the same building as a 1930s Art Deco lido swimming pool, Saltdean Library offers all the main library borrowing facilities as well as access to computers, the internet and Silver Surfer sessions.

Westdene Library has a wide range of books to borrow, as well as DVDs and audiobooks. Computers are available for public use. There is also a local history collection, essential skills collections, and regular Silver Surfer sessions.

Whitehawk Library houses the city’s Toy Library. With a wide range of toys, games and puzzles to borrow for free, children of all ages can choose and borrow a different toy or game each week. Pre-school musical instruments are also available to borrow.
