Young reader in Jubilee Library

Temporary closure of Jubilee Children's Library

The children’s area of Jubilee Library will be closed between

26 August 2010 and 12 September 2010 inclusive

to carry out improvement work inside the building. The last opening day will be 25 August 2010 and the children’s area will re-open on 13 September 2010.

Schedule of works planned
  • Repainting of back wall containing Kate Malone ‘Wall of 1000 Stories’, an award-winning piece of art work
  • Replacement of flooring with new more durable covering

This work is part of an ongoing refurbishment of areas of the Jubilee Library which have had high usage, including the recovering of the soft seating throughout the library and replacement of toilet flooring.

Alternative Arrangements
  • During the closure, a limited children’s service will be available in the front of the main ground floor hall of Jubilee Library. This displaces the current newspaper reading area.
  • A quiet reading area for magazines and newspapers will be available in the Learning Centre on the upper floor of the library.
