Pamphlets
Brighton History Centre has over 2,000 pamphlets in its collection. These pamphlets come in many different forms, from club flyers for the Funky Buddha Lounge to souvenir programmes for Edwardian garden fetes, and cover a wide range of dates from the 17th century to the present time.
Examples include:
- articles in architectural magazines from the 1930s showing plans and photographs of Embassy Court
- a thanksgiving sermon dated 1814, given in celebration for the defeat of Napoleon
- an illustrated guide to the 1913 Preston Midsummer fete with photographs and adverts for local shopkeepers
- a guide to the Mothercraft Training Society’s conference in 1939
All this material is easily accessible - just come to the enquiry counter and ask a member of staff.
