The Royal Pavilion and the Regency gardens

No visit to the south coast is complete without a visit to the former royal residence, the Royal Pavilion. Your group will be delighted by the extraordinary, decadent Indian-style palace with its opulent interiors, and will gain a fascinating insight into royal history and the Regency era.

Built in the early 19th century by the famous architect John Nash (who also designed Buckingham Palace and St James’s Park), the Royal Pavilion was King George IV’s seaside pleasure palace where he enjoyed discreet romantic liaisons and decadent parties away from his London court. The palace and gardens have all now been beautifully restored to their former glory.

The Royal Pavilion can accommodate groups of up to 53 at any one time (larger groups will be split).

Free audio guides are provided, or you can book one of our group tours with a specialist guide. Guided tours of the palace and/or gardens are available for groups of up to 30 people (larger groups can book two or more tours).

A tactile tour for the visually impaired and British Sign Language (BSL) interpreted tour for the hard of hearing are available.

Please note that during July and August we do not admit unbooked groups into the Royal Pavilion at the weekends. The building is very busy at these times. Please book your group in with our bookings team, who will be able to give you a time slot for entry.

Refreshment packages are available for groups in the excellent Royal Pavilion Tearoom.
