Duke of York's 100 Project
Various Libraries, Brighton & Hove
The Duke of York's opened its doors for business on September 22nd 1910, making it the UK’s oldest purpose built cinema that has continually operated, as recognised by the Cinema Theatres Association. This is a unique opportunity for local people to explore their heritage and engage with the significant role Brighton played in the development of film culture in the UK. The 100 project will be gathering people's memories, both oral and written, to be included on the website providing a unique social history resource. A book using this resource will be published at the end of the project.
