Celebrate National Libraries Day with Brighton & Hove Libraries

Find out more about what your local library has to offer and all the things that take place across the City as part of this national event devoted to all libraries.

Jubilee Library

Hidden Treasures: Rare Books and Special Collections, 11-12 noon, Rare Books Reading Room, Upper Floor

Includes a brief talk about individual works, about the Collections, and a tour.

eBook Demo, 12-2pm, Main Hall, Ground Floor

Your libraries now have an eBook service! Come and find out more about this new free service available to all library members by visiting our information point where staff will be on hand to demonstrate this service and answer your questions.

Favourite Things Craft Activity, 2-4pm, Children’s Library, For ages 5+

What’s your favourite thing to do in the library?
Come and tell us whilst joining in this craft activity for all the family where you can make larger than life models to decorate the library.

Hove Library

Craft Session, 10:30-12:30pm

Make a Book Cover for your Favourite Book.
A free event and no booking required.
Suitable for under 12's.

Local Authors visit Hove, 1.30-4.30pm

Come along and listen to Dorothy Koomson, Sarah Rayner, Mark Barrowcliffe, Kate Harrison, Susanna Quinn, Julia Crouch, Lizzie Enfield, Araminta Hall, Simon Toyne, Jo Rees and Bridget Whelan read from their new and published works. Books to borrow and buy. Refreshments available all day.

Hangleton, Mile Oak, Portslade and Westdene Libraries

Coffee Morning, 10-12 noon

Regular meeting exchanging information and memories, collecting photographs and cuttings.

Whitehawk Library

If you do not have a computer at home or are not used to using the internet a volunteer will be available to help you get online and direct you to sources of information and advice.
