Handling session with a member of staff from Brighton & Hove Museums

Nurseries and schools

In your nursery or school

Why not have a visit from Boris the Tiger or be hands-on with some masks from West Africa?
From Iguanodon toe bones to Victorian china dolls, Early Years outreach can bring some fascinating objects for nursery and reception age children to wonder at. Telephone the Early Years Learning Officer on 01273 291324 for more information.

Loan Boxes

Borrow a box full of history from Brighton & Hove Museums.

These unique resources support the Foundation Stage by promoting a sense of time and/or culture which underpins the ‘knowledge and understanding of the world’ early learning goal.

Each loan box contains a selection of themed artefacts, object information, suggested activities and storybooks to stimulate the imagination of under 5s. Each box contains a training video showing a museum teacher demonstrating how to handle the objects and how to structure and lead a session.

Boxes to hire

India – contemporary everyday objects from India
Playtime – a range of useable replica and original Victorian toys
At Home – everyday Victorian household objects
Historical Children’s Clothing - discover how children dressed 100 years ago
Washday – do your weekly laundry the Victorian way with possers and dolly tubs
