Come and fine tune your science investigation skills with our wonderful collections. Feel, touch and learn about natural history and science in this beautiful Victorian museum. It is the place to see dinosaur bones, skeletons, and hundreds of species of British birds and butterflies.

Meet the Booths
Find out more about classifying the natural world in Victorian times and investigate birds, beaks, feet and feathers with Mrs Booth.

Skeletons
Find out more about skeletons by handling real human and animals bones.  Why do animals have skeletons?  What can we discover about an animal by looking at their bones?

Adaptation & Survival
How do different animals adapt to their environment?  This session focuses on the various ways different animals use camouflage to survive.

Mini Beasts
Can you tell an insect from an arachnoid? Get up close with our minibeast handling collection and find out more about their different characteristics and how to tell them apart.

Early Years
An introductory gallery tour and handling session especially designed for nursery and reception children.

Natural History Loans
We can lend you a variety of items from our collections such as birds, mammals, insects, fossils and shells.

Booth Museum of Natural History

Founded by Edward Booth in 1874 the Booth Museum is all about birds, butterflies, fossils, bones and skeletons. Natural history is brought to life with interactive displays and ‘hands on’ activities. Entrance is free.
